Module 3: Ergonomics and Workplace Safety
Proper ergonomic setup is essential for preventing repetitive strain injuries and reducing fatigue during long periods of computer use. Your workstation configuration directly impacts your long-term health and productivity.
Monitor Position
Position your monitor at arm's length — approximately 50-70cm from your eyes. The top of the screen should be at or slightly below eye level. Tilt the screen back 10-20 degrees to reduce glare and neck strain.
Keyboard and Mouse
Your keyboard and mouse should be at elbow height. Keep your wrists straight — not bent up or down — while typing. Use a wrist rest only during breaks, not while actively typing, as resting while typing increases pressure on the carpal tunnel.
